Another Exciting Entry in the Burke Series! “Wei Jun and his granddaughter Yo-Yo—who were first introduced in Burke’s Mandarin—are still running a spy operation from their DC restaurant, though they’re actually double agents helping the US rather than the Chinese government. That is, until former Colonel Yi Jing-Min—last seen 4 years ago, disgraced and being sent to a Chinese labor camp—shows up at the Golden Dragon and kidnaps Wei Jun as part of an elaborate plan that’s part redemption and part revenge. So Yo-Yo turns to Bob Burke, aka “The Ghost,” and his band of Merry Men to once again to help rescue an old friend from an old enemy.
Except, Yo-Yo doesn’t call The Ghost. She calls her friend Ellie Burke, the Ghost’s 15-year-old, computer prodigy daughter, which gives Burke’s Justice a bit of a different feel than the earlier books in the series. The story is a cat-and-mouse action adventure, with lots of twists and turns, as what starts as personal score settling risks setting off a war. Just as all the earlier books in the series, Burke’s Justice is fast-paced, funny, and never boring. Highly recommended. ” Reviewed in the US on Aug 8th, 2025.
Fantastic, more personal espionage sequel “Having 15 year old Ellie, the female geek, impulsively run off to help Yo-Yo find her abducted grandfather, the elderly spymaster & friend to Ellie’s dad Bob Burke. This was a lot of fun to see Ellie’s growth, her loyalty, her brilliance, while Bob was being frustrated by her actions, yet deeply proud of Ellie’s abilities. GREAT READ!” Reviewed in the US on July 30th 2025
