December 5, 2020 by William F. Brown Leave a Comment

Want to know what Vietnam was really like? Real stories told by real people, in their own words, 100 veterans, men and women, caught up in an all too real war. From the Delta to the DMZ, come walk in their boots. If you were there, you understand. If you weren’t, grab a copy and you will, because they’re like Doritos. Try a few and you won’t be able to stop.

Check Out the Audio Book Here

The Vietnam War dominated my generation and affected so many lives in so many different ways. Some of us were drafted. Some enlisted. Some became war heroes, intentional or not, but most of us were just trying to survive. Army, Marines, Air Force, Navy, or Coast Guard, American, Australian, or New Zealanders, Vietnam was all about luck, good or bad. And there were hundreds of different wars depending on where you were, the year you were there, your service, branch, unit, rank, job, and race. Whether we were nurses, helicopter pilots, infantryman, Rangers, clerk typists, combat medics, engineers, MPs, Platoon Leaders, sailors on riverine patrols up the rivers, artillerymen, or cooks, from 1956 to 1976 from the Delta to the DMZ, these stories tell who we were, the jobs we did, our memories of that time and place, how it changed us, and what we did after we came home.

Unfortunately, what little our kids and grandkids know of the war comes from books that only focus on one soldier, one unit, and one year, or movies like Oliver Stone’s Platoon and Hamburger Hill, leaving people to think that all we did was crawl through the jungle on the Cambodian border smoking dope. But that wasn’t how most of us spent our year. Hopefully, these books will help correct that narrative.

William F Brown is the author of nine action adventure and suspense novels on Kindle, including the highly successful Bob Burke series, and Our Vietnam Wars, Volumes 1 thru 4, personal stories of the veterans who served there. His ministry and suspense novels include ‘The Undertaker,’ ‘Amongst My Enemies,’ ‘Thursday at Noon,’ ‘Aim True, My Brothers,’ ‘Winner Lose All,’ and ‘The Cold War Trilogy,’ as well as Burke’s War, Burke’s Gamble, and Burke’s Revenge. You can them out on my web site and enjoy!

All 4 Volumes of Our Vietnam Wars Are Now in the Amazon Vietnam Wars Top 50

May 29, 2020 by William F. Brown Leave a Comment

Vietnam WarVolume 4 of Our Vietnam Wars has now joined the first three volumes in the top 50 of the Amazon and Kindle books on the Vietnam War. That is a real plus and shows the extent to which these stories of now 240 Vietnam veterans contained in the four volumes have resonated with readers, both veterans and nonveterans. These are not “war books.” They are the stories of the men and women who served, where they came from, their background and training, their experiences and memories during their time in Vietnam, and most importantly, but they did after they came home.

These are real stories told by real people, in their own words, 100 veterans, men and women, caught up in an all too real war. From the Delta to the DMZ, come walk in their boots. If you were there, you understand. If you weren’t, grab a copy and you will, because they’re like Doritos. Try a few and you won’t be able to stop.

The Vietnam War dominated my generation and affected so many lives in so many different ways. Some of us were drafted. Some enlisted. Some became war heroes, intentional or not, but most of us were just trying to survive. Most books on the war, and there are many good ones, only tell one Viiet Nam, Viet Nam Warspersons experiences in one unit during one year. These books do much more. Army, Marines, Air Force, Navy, or Coast Guard, American, Australian, or New Zealanders, Vietnam was all about luck, good or bad. And there were hundreds of different wars depending on where you were, the year you were there, your service, branch, unit, rank, job, and race. Check them out. I think you’ll find them the most important books will read this year.

The Audiobook version of Our Vietnam Wars, Volume 1 is now out on Amazon’s Audible

April 7, 2019 by William F. Brown Leave a Comment

The Audio Book version of Our Vietnam Wars Volume 1 came out on Amazon’s Audible audiobook site a few days ago. Some people read, some people listen to audiobooks, and some do both. It’s a great listen, with almost 13 hours of Vietnam stories from the interviews I conducted.

Viiet Nam, Viet Nam Wars

As I told some of the 100 guys and gals whose stories are in the book, I tried to get Tom Selleck, Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, and Meryl Streep to narrate their roles, but they were regrettably unavailable. Instead, I used the ever-versatile LA voice actor Eddie Frierson, who narrated four of my earlier e-books into audio books. Eddie is fantastic, and has proven many times over that he can provide hundreds of different voices and regional accents as needed. In LA, he has worked for many studios in movies and cartoons, providing voice-overs, specialty effects, and characcter voices.

If you are a member of Audible, you can get a copy Free as part of your monthly membership. Just follow this link.

If you aren’t a member of Audible, you can purchase a copy for $25 dollars (their price, not mine!) Or, you can take advantage of their FREE Trial Offer to get several audiobooks for Free by joining and get a bunch of monthly downloads as part of their $15 monthly membership fee. Of course, once you sign up for the Trial Offer and download your audiobooks, you can quit anytime you want.

Our Vietnam Wars Volume 1 now has 4.7 Stars on Kindle, on 150 Kinddle Reviews; and 4.5 Stars on 147 Reviews with the tougher crowd over at Good Reads. Take a look and see why. It has been the #1 new book in military history, #1 in books on the Vietnam War, and #1 in books on Veterans Affairs. Check out some of the reviews on the Kindle book site and you will see why. Volume 2, released in December, has 30 reviews and a perfect 5.0 Star Rating on Kindle.

Our Vietnam Wars, Vol 2 is Now the #1 New Book in US Military History

December 24, 2018 by William F. Brown Leave a Comment

From a Marine sniper in Hue, to a medevac dust-off pilot going into a hot LZ, Navy Corpsmen, A-6 pilots taking out bridges and SAM sites in North Vietnam, a nurse on the USS Repose, combat medics deep in the jungle, machine gunners in I-Corps, mechanics working on the rolling deck of a big carrier on Yankee Station, squad leaders on infantry sweeps in “the Arizona Territory,” truck convoys under fire, riverine patrol boats in the Delta, Coast Guard “Jolly Green” search and rescue helicopters pulling downed pilots from the jungle, tank platoons in an all-out armor assault, Loach pilots in hunter-killer teams, and many more — from the Delta to the DMZ, this book puts you in their boots.

Want to know what Vietnam was really like?

Some of us were drafted. Some enlisted. Some were true war heroes, but most were just trying to survive. As everyone “in-country” knew, Vietnam was all about luck, good or bad. If you were there, you understand. If you weren’t, grab a copy and start reading, anywhere in the book. The stories are like Doritos. Try a few and you won’t be able to stop.

In February, I published Volume 1. Due to the amazing response it received from vets and their families, I’m publishing Volume 2, with even more interesting, exciting, and informative stories. Hopefully, they will help correct that narrative.

Our Vietnam Wars is on a $0.99 Kindle Sale Today. Grab One!

April 6, 2018 by William F. Brown Leave a Comment

Viietnam, Vietnam WarsI’ve cut the price on my new non-fiction book Our Vietnam Wars from $5.99 to $0.99 for a couple of days so that even more people can read these amazing stories and better understand what the Vietnam experience was like to those of us who served there.

It has been ranked #1 in mew Military Fiction, #1 in books on the Vietnam War,  #1 in books on Veterans, and has 4.8 Stars on 48 Amazon Reviews. This could be the most important book you’ll read this year. It isn’t another war book. It is a book about people, and it contains the personal stories of 100 Vietnam Veterans who served there.

Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines, from the late 1950s to 1975 we served from the Delta to the DMZ, and from Thailand to Yankee Station in the South China Sea. Infantry grunts, truck drivers, medics, helicopter pilots, nurses, clerk typists, jet pilots, mechanics, staff officers, repairmen, artillerymen, B-52 bombardiers, MPs, and doctors, we were black, white, and Hispanic, male and female. We were only in our teens and early twenties, but our stories continue to resonate through the years.

Breaking down the stereotypes, they tell who we were, the jobs we did, our memories of that time and place and how Vietnam changed us, and what we did after we came home.

We are fading into history, but our stories resonate even more today. They tell who we were, where we came from, the jobs we did, our memories of that time and place, how it changed us, and what we did when we came home.  The book is also available in paperback on the book site. Grab a copy of either version, you won’t regret it.

This is the tenth book I’ve written and published on Amazon and Kindle, none of which are action-adventure suspense novels.

“Our Vietnam Wars” has 4.8 Stars. Find Out Why

March 30, 2018 by William F. Brown Leave a Comment

With personal interviews with 100 veterans — men and women who served there — Our Vietnam Wars is resonating in the vet community.  It now has 4.8 Stars on Kindle, on 40 Reviews; and 4.5 Stars on 30 Reviews with the tougher crowd over at GoodReads. Take a look and see why.

Our Vietnam WarsIt is currently the #1 new book in military history, #2 In books on the Vietnam War, and #2 in books on Veterans Affairs. Check out some of the reviews on the Kindle book site and you will see why.

I know the interview process was very therapeutic for many of the vets I talked to. From the comments others have left in their reviews, the book has been equally valuable to many vets who have read it. One wrote, “Now I know I’m not alone.” There are many similar posted comments. The thought that my book is doing some good for my fellow vets has been very humbling to an old suspense novel writer like me. Clearly, the book and its stories have struck a chord with many vets, and their spouses and children.

Our Vietnam Wars, Paperback is on an Amazon Sale Today

March 11, 2018 by William F. Brown Leave a Comment

Viietnam, Vietnam WarsAmazon has reduced the paperback price of my new nonfiction book, Our Vietnam Wars by over 25% to $10.71.  The Great Goddess Amazon can be fickle. Grab one before she changes her mind.

CHECK IT OUT HERE

It is currently the #1 new book in military history, #2 In books on the Vietnam War, and #2 in books on Veterans Affairs. Check out some of the reviews on the Kindle book site and you will see why.

It is not a war book. It is about the men and women who served there, and in personal interviews with 100 of them, it tells their stories, their remembrances, and who they were. It could be the most important book you read this year.

January 30 marks the 50th anniversary of the Tet Offensive, the seminal event of a war that dominated my generation and changed lives.  Some of the men and women in this book are true war heroes. Most were just trying to survive. If you were here, you understand. If you weren’t, my hope is that through these stories you will. Breaking down the stereotypes, they tell who we were, the jobs we did, our memories of that time and place and how it changed us, and what we did after we came home.

Over 58,200 of us paid the ultimate price, but the war didn’t end when the last US helicopter lifted off from the roof of the US Embassy in Saigon. It continues to take its ugly toll on many who did come home. Instead of bands and parades, we got PTSD and Agent Orange, diabetes, ischemic heart disease, neuropathy, leukemia, Hodgkin’s Disease, and prostate cancer, and many more. As they say, “Vietnam: the gift that keeps on giving.”
